Marì, Zezë, Deshur, Lihar - the Arbëreshë tradition

The first Di Salvo bottle was born in 2016 but it was in 2019 that the company decided to create a structured project giving life to three bottles: two reds (Deshur and Zezë) and two whites (Marì and Lihar).

In research and planning it was decided to embark on the path of rediscovery and valorization, not only of the vineyards but also of the culture and traditions of the area.

The western Sicilian hinterland is characterized by the presence of Arbëreshë communities, i.e. Greek-Albanian communities of Sicily who keep the Byzantine culture and language alive.

The architectural, religious and linguistic characterization of these places makes them magical and rich in traditions. As if to underline - once again - that Sicily is a place of meetings, mixes and respect.

And it is precisely from the Arbëreshë language that the three new wines of Az. Agricola Di Salvo take their name:

Nero d'Avola - Deshur , love, for things done well, with heart and passion.

Perricone - Zezë , black, from Niuro Cani, the name by which Perricone is known locally.

Catarratto - Marì , Maria, dedicated to Maria who together with her husband Andrea carry on the farm with courage and dedication.

Catarratto-Lihar , light. A fresh, bright, exciting wine.

Inzolia: Lule the flowers. For a wine with a rich and harmonious bouquet.

Rosé - Harè , joy. A fresh, dry, pleasant and elegant rosé.
